Duringmaintenanceactivities,makesurethatthehigh-pressurefuellinesarenotdamaged.Afuel
leakfromthehigh-pressurefuellinescancauseanaccidentand/orseriouspersonalinjury.Ifthefuel
linesaredamaged,contactyourdealerimmediately.
Failuretocomplycouldresultindeathorseriousinjury.

1.Movethemachinetoalevelandrmground.
2.Raisetheloaderattachmentandengagethesafety
strut.
3.Placethebackhoeattachmentintheroadtravelposi-
tion.
4.Placethedirection-of-travelleverandgearshiftleverin
neutralposition.
5.Engagetheparkingbrake.
6.Stoptheengineandremovethestarterswitchkey.
7.Waitthetimenecessarytoallowtheengineandthefuel
systemtocooldown.

8.Opentheenginecompartmenthood.
9.Placeacontainerunderthelter.Drainthewaterand
sedimentsfromthefuellter(1)throughthedraining
valve(2)
•
Fromthebottomofthelter,removetheconnector
(2).
•
Installa1m(3ft)longdraintubeontothedraining
valveandputtheotherendofthetubeintothecon-
tainer.
•
Loosenthedrainingvalveabouttwoturns.Assoon
ascleanfuelexitsthedraintubeclosethedraining
valve.
•
Tightenthedrainingvalve.Donotovertightenthe
drainvalve.
•
Bleedairfromthefuelsystem,see7-101.
NOTE:Thedrainingintervalcanbeincreasedorde-
creased,dependingonthepresenceofwaterandthe
quantityoffuel.
