10. Start the engine.
11. With the service brake applied and engine at
low idle, shift the transmission to forward and
reverse to fill the clutches.
12. Shift the transmission into NEUTRAL.Apply the
parking brake.
13. Remove the dipstick/ filler cap.
14. Maintain oil level between the ADD and FULL
marks on the dipstick filler cap. Close access door.
15. Check for oil leaks at the filter and drain plug.
16. Stop the engine.
Drive Axle Oil - Change
NOTE : Change the differential oil on lift trucks
that are operated under wet conditions or measure
oil level on lift trucks that operate under dry condi-
tions. Clean the housing breather under either
condition.
1. Lift the carriage high enough to gain access to
the differential housing level-fill plug and breather.
2. Put blocks under the carriage.
3. Remove the housing breather. Wash it in clean,
nonflammable solvent.
4. Install the breather if the housing is not required
to be drained.
5. Measure the differential lubricant level on lift
trucks on which differentials are not required to be
drained. See topic, ÒDrive Axle Oil LevelÓ in Ò
Every 250 Service Hours or Monthly Ó.
