External Clock In Status
NIC units manufactured with System Controller III (3 USB ports) have
two External Clock In and Clock Out ports; one port for Bantam cables
and one port for BNC cables.
The System Controller auto-detects the status of which Clock In
port is actively being used.
At the bottom of the System tab > Misc screen, there is an
External Clock In Status window which displays the following
information.
External Clock In
Status
Description
Internal Reference Neither Clock In port has active External
Clock In connection
Pre-Locked (BNC) Briefly displays as the System Controller
detects that an External Clock was connected
to the BNC Clock In port.
Pre-Locked (Bantam) Same as above, but for the Bantam Clock In
port.
Locked (BNC) The System Controller was successfully able
to synchronize to the External reference Clock
connected to the BNC Clock In port, and veri-
fied that it matched the External Clock set-
ting.
Locked (Bantam) Same as above, but for the Bantam Clock In
port.
Loss of Lock (BNC) Briefly displays when the System Controller
detects that the External Clock was discon-
nected from the BNC Clock In port. The Sys-
tem Controller will first verify if a valid
reference clock is connected to the other
Clock In port. If another Clock is not found, it
will revert back to Internal Reference.
Loss of Lock (Bantam) Same as above, but for the Bantam Clock In
port.
