Theuseofwateraloneinthisenginecanresultinmajorenginefailure.

Hoses
Eachmonthitisrecommendedthatalloftheintakelinestoandfromtheaircleaners,the
enginecoolingsystemhosesandalloftheexiblehosesusedforair,oil,andfuelbe
inspected.
Toensurefreedomfromairleaks,allrubberhosejointsandthescrew-typehoseclamps
mustbeabsolutelytight.Regularinspectionoftheseconnectionsforwearordeteriorationis
necessary.
PrematurewearofboththeengineandcompressorisASSUREDwheneverdust-ladenairis
permittedtoentertheengine’scombustionchamberorcompressorintake.
Theexiblehosesusedinthefuel,oilandairlinesontheseunitsareprimarilyusedfor
theirabilitytoaccommodaterelativemovementbetweencomponents.Itisimportantthey
beperiodicallyinspectedforwearanddeterioration.Itisalsoimportanttheoperatordoes
notusethehosesasconvenienthandholdorsteps.Suchusecancauseearlycoverwear
andhosefailure.
Someoftheairlinesarenylontubing.Theassociatedttingsare
“push-in”design.Featuresareasfollows:
Pullingonthetubingwillcausetheinnersleevetowithdrawand
compress,thustighteningtheconnection.Thetubingcanbewithdrawn
onlywhileholdingthesleeveagainstthetting.Thetubingcanbe
removedandreplacednumeroustimeswithoutlosingitssealingability.
Toinstallthenylontubing,makeamark(withtapeorgreasepencil)
approximately7/8inchfromtheendofthetubing.Insertthetubinginto
thesleeveand“push-in”pasttherstresistancetothebottom.The
markshouldbeapproximately1/16inchfromthesleeve,forthe3/8inch
O.D.tubing;1/8inchforthe0.25inchO.D.tubing.Thiswillensurethat
tubingisfullyengagedinthesealingmechanism.
