Each load shedding stage can be configured with the following parameters.
Shed load of the stage
The maximum electrical capacity of the stage must be configured using parameters (Leistung). The calculation
of the stages to be shed is performed based on this parameter. Stages whose shed load has been
parametrised to 0 are also shed according to their prioritisation (order). In doing so, unfavourable switching
actions can occur for a time interval. Therefore, a correct maximum shed load should be set for each load
shedding stage used to guarantee optimum operation of the LSM.
Minimum operating time
A minimum operating time can be configured using this parameter. The minimum operating time specifies the
time that a stage must at least be active before it is permitted to be shed again. If any time > 0 is parametrised,
this is decisive whether any shedding for the stage is performed. If any limitation of shedding should not be
used, this time must be parametrised with 0.
Minimum load shed time
A minimum load shed time can be configured using this parameter. The minimum load shed time specifies the
time that a stage must at least be shed for. It may be loaded again afterwards. If the time is parametrised to 0, it
has no influence on the function of the LSM.
Maximum time (load shed time
A maximum load shed time can be configured using this parameter. This time starts with the shedding of a
stage. If the configured maximum load shed time is reached, the stage is loaded again irrespective of the
current power demand and load shed state. The times are recorded and processed separately for each stage.
With parametrisation to 0, this function is deactivated and the load shed time is not limited.
Load shed output
A load shed output must be configured for each load shedding stage. The appropriate consumer is shed using
this. A stage or a consumer is shed using an active load shed output. If no output is configured for a stage, no
shedding takes place for this stage.
Operating input (optional)
A digital input for signalling the operating state of the associated consumer can be used and configured for
each load shedding stage. The operating input communicates the current operating status (ON/OFF) of the
consumer of the respective load shedding stage to the LSM. With appropriate use of this input, the load
optimisation can be significantly improved as the loading and unloading of capacity stages can be optimised by
the LSM.
If this input is not configured for a stage, operation of the consumer is always assumed. The operating input
only has an effect on the load shedding performance of the respective stage.
Power demand input (optional)
A digital input for signalling the power requirement of a consumer can be used and configured for each load
shedding stage. The power demand input signals its power requirement for the respective shed load stage
(requirement YES/NO) to the LSM and whether the total power is increased by its requirement in the case of an
enable. With appropriate use of this input, the load optimisation can be significantly improved as the LSM can
determine an optimum load shedding strategy.
If this input is not configured for a stage, power requirement of the consumer is always assumed. The power
demand input only has an effect on the loading of the respective stage.
Careful planning and corresponding putting into service are required for successful start-up and
configuration of any load optimisation management. User and installation specific information of the
system operator and information that can be obtained from the demand profile of the installation using
the LDSWin PC software provide the basis for the planning. The correctness of the specified setpoints,
i.e, the efficiency and reliability of the load optimisation system can be recognised / checked very well
on these logs.
