Syntax
[no] negotiation
Default Setting
Enabled
Command Mode
Interface Configuration (Ethernet, Port Channel)
Command Usage
â—† 1000BASE-T does not support forced mode. Auto-negotiation should always be
used to establish a connection over any 1000BASE-T port or trunk.
â—† When auto-negotiation is enabled the switch will negotiate the best settings
for a link based on the capabilities command. When auto-negotiation is
disabled, you must manually specify the link attributes with the speed-duplex
and flowcontrol commands.
â—† If auto-negotiation is disabled, auto-MDI/MDI-X pin signal configuration will
also be disabled for the RJ-45 ports.
Note:
Auto-negotiation is not supported for 1000BASE SFP transceivers used in
10G SFP+ Ports 25-28/49-52.
Example
The following example configures port 10 to use auto-negotiation.
Console(config)#interface ethernet 1/10
Console(config-if)#negotiation
Console(config-if)#
