Fuel Safety
DANGER
Gasoline is extr emel y amma ble and v apor s ar e
explosi v e.
A r e or explosion fr om gasoline can bur n y ou,
other s, and cause pr oper ty dama ge.
Fill the fuel tank outdoor s on lev el g r ound,
in an open ar ea, when the engine is cold. If
fuel is spilled, Do Not attempt to star t the
engine. Mo v e a w ay fr om the ar ea of the spill
and a v oid cr eating an y source of ignition until
fuel v apor s ha v e dissipated.
Do Not r ell the fuel tank or drain the
machine indoor s or inside an enclosed trailer .
Nev er smok e when handling gasoline, and
stay a w ay fr om an open ame or wher e
gasoline fumes may be ignited by spar k.
Add fuel bef or e star ting the engine. Nev er
r emo v e the cap of the fuel tank or add fuel
when engine is r unning or when the engine
is hot.
Stor e gasoline in an appr o v ed container and
k eep it out of the r each of childr en.
Do Not operate without entir e exhaust system
in place and in pr oper w or king condition.
In cer tain conditions during fueling, static
electricity can be released causing a spark whic h
can ignite g asoline v apors .
Do Not ll containers inside a v ehicle or on a
tr uc k or trailer bed with a plastic liner . Alw a ys
place containers on the g round and a w a y from
y our v ehicle before lling .
W hen practical, remo v e g as-po w ered
equipment from the tr uc k or trailer and
refuel the equipment with its wheels on the
g round. If this is not possible , then refuel
suc h equipment on a tr uc k or trailer from a
por table container , rather than from a g asoline
dispenser nozzle .
If a g asoline dispenser nozzle is used, k ee p the
nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel tank
or container opening at all times until fueling
is complete . Do Not use a nozzle loc k open
device .
Do Not o v erll the fuel tank. Fill the fuel tank to
the bottom of the ller nec k. T he empty space in
the tank allo ws g asoline to expand. Ov erlling
ma y result in fuel leakag e or damag e to the engine
or emission system.
Gasoline is har mful or fatal if sw allo w ed.
Long-ter m exposure to v apors ma y cause serious
injur y and illness .
A v oid prolong ed breathing of v apors .
K ee p face a w a y from nozzle and g as
tank/container opening .
K ee p a w a y from eyes and skin.
T o help prev ent res:
K ee p engine and engine area free from
accum ulation of g rass , lea v es , ex cessi v e g rease
or oil, and other debris whic h can accum ulate
in these areas .
Clean up oil and fuel spills and remo v e fuel
soak ed debris .
Allo w the mac hine to cool before storing the
mac hine in any enclosure . Do Not store the
mac hine or fuel container , or refuel, where
there is an open ame , spark, or pilot light
suc h as on a w ater heater or other appliance .

T he operator m ust use their full attention when
operating the mac hine . Do Not eng ag e in any acti vity
that causes distractions; otherwise , injur y or proper ty
damag e ma y occur .
W ARNING
Operating engine par ts, especiall y the muf er ,
become extr emel y hot. Sev er e bur ns can occur
on contact and de bris, such as lea v es, g rass,
br ush, etc . can catch r e.
Clean the machine as stated in the Maintenance
section. K eep engine and engine ar ea fr ee fr om
accumulation of g rass, lea v es, ex cessi v e g r ease
or oil, and other de bris which can accumulate
in these ar eas.
Operate the engine only in w ell-v entilated areas .
Exhaust g ases contain carbon mono xide , whic h is
an odorless deadly poison.
