Maintenance
6. Use oil recommended in the Check Engine Oil
Lev el section. Do Not o v erll. Star t the engine
and c hec k for leaks .
7. Wipe up any spilled oil from engine dec k
mounting surfaces .
Check Hydraulic Oil Level
Service Interval : Every 40 hours
1. Stop engine and w ait for all mo ving par ts to stop ,
and remo v e k ey . Eng ag e parking brak e .
2. Clean area around h y draulic reser v oir cap and
remo v e cap .
X-Series:
A. Wipe the dipstic k clean and re-inser t the
cap bac k into the h y dro . Lightly tighten
the cap .
B . R emo v e the cap ag ain and c hec k the lev el
of the oil on the dipstic k. See Figure 22 for
oil lev els .

Note: T he oil lev el on the dipstic k will
be incor rect if the oil is c hec k ed when the
mac hine is hot.
S-Series:
Oil lev el should be to the top of the bafe
inside the tank.
T he bafe is labeled “HOT” and “COLD”.
T he oil lev el v aries with the temperature of
the oil. T he “HOT” lev el sho ws the lev el of
oil when it is at 225°F (107°C). T he “COLD”
lev el sho ws the lev el of the oil when it is
at 75°F (24°C). Fill to the appropriate lev el
de pending upon the temperature of the
oil. F or example: If the oil is about 150°F
(65°C), ll to halfw a y betw een the “HOT”
and “COLD” lev els . If the oil is at room
temperature (about 75°F (24°C)), ll only to
the “COLD” lev el.
3. If the oil lev el is belo w the ADD” or “COLD”
lev el, add Exmark Premium Hy dro Oil. Do Not
o v erll.
4. R e place h y draulic reser v oir cap and tighten until
sn ug . Do Not o v er tighten.
Check T ire Pressures
Service Interval : Every 50 hours
1. Stop engine , w ait for all mo ving par ts to stop , and
remo v e k ey . Eng ag e parking brak e .
2. Chec k tire pressure in dri v e tires .
3. Inate dri v e tires to 12–14 psi (83–97 kP a).
4. Semi-pneumatic caster tires do not need to be
inated.
Check Condition Of Belts
Service Interval : Every 50 hours
1. Stop engine , w ait for all mo ving par ts to stop , and
remo v e k ey . Eng ag e parking brak e .
2. Look on the top side of the cutting dec k to c hec k
the mo w er blade dri v e belt condition.
3. Look under the engine dec k to c hec k the pump
dri v e belt condition.
4. Chec k all idler ar ms to be sure they pi v ot freely .
Lubricate Grease Fittings

remo v e k ey . Eng ag e parking brak e .
2. Lubricate ttings with NLGI g rade #2
m ulti-pur pose gun g rease .
