Check Engine Oil Level
Service Interval : Before each use or daily
1. Stop engine and w ait for all mo ving par ts to stop .
Mak e sure unit is on a lev el surface .
2. Chec k with engine cold.
3. Clean area around dipstic k. R emo v e dipstic k
and wipe oil off . R einser t the dipstic k according
to the engine man ufacturer's recommendations .
R emo v e the dipstic k and read the oil lev el.
4. If the oil lev el is lo w , wipe off the area around the
oil ll cap , remo v e cap and ll to the “FULL
mark on the dipstic k. Exmark 4-Cycle Premium
Engine Oil is recommended; refer to the Engine
Owner's man ual for an appropriate API rating
and viscosity . Do Not o v erll.
Important: Do Not operate the engine with the
oil lev el belo w the “LO W” (or ADD”) mar k on
the dipstick, or o v er the “FULL mar k.
Check Battery Charge
Service Interval : As required
Allo wing batteries to stand for an extended period of
time without rec harging them will result in reduced
perfor mance and ser vice life . T o preser v e optim um
batter y perfor mance and life , rec harg e batteries in
storag e when the open circuit v oltag e drops to 12.4
v olts .
Note: T o prev ent damag e due to freezing, batter y
should be fully c harg ed before putting a w a y for
winter storag e .
Charg e batteries in an open w ell v entilated area,
a w a y from spark and ames . Unplug c harg er before
connecting or disconnecting from batter y . W ear
protecti v e clothing and use insulated tools .
DANGER
Charging or jump star ting the batter y may
pr oduce explosi v e gases. Batter y gases can
explode causing serious injur y .
K eep spar ks, ames, or cigar ettes a w ay fr om
batter y .
V entilate when charging or using batter y in
an enclosed space.
Mak e sur e v enting path of batter y is al w ays
open once batter y is lled with acid.
Al w ays shield ey es and f ace fr om batter y .
DANGER
Batter y electr ol yte contains sulfuric acid, which
is poisonous and can cause sev er e bur ns.
Sw allo wing electr ol yte can be f atal or if it touches
skin can cause sev er e bur ns.
W ear safety g lasses to shield ey es, and r ub ber
g lo v es to pr otect skin and clothing when
handling electr ol yte.
Do Not s w allo w electr ol yte.
In the ev ent of an accident, ush with w ater
and call a doctor immediatel y .
CAUTION
If the ignition is in the “ON” position ther e
is potential f or spar ks and enga gement of
components. Spar ks could cause an explosion or
mo ving par ts could accidentall y enga ge causing
per sonal injur y .
Be sur e ignition s witch is in the “OFF” position
bef or e charging the batter y .
Chec k the v oltag e of the batter y with a digital
v oltmeter or with the messag e displa y W hen the
ignition is set to the accessor y mode , the module will
displa y the batter y v oltag e . If the v oltag e is less than
12.4 v olts , the batter y ma y need to be c harg ed.
