Cleaning
Cleaning and Storing Safety
P ark mac hine on lev el g round, diseng ag e dri v es ,
set parking brak e , stop engine , remo v e k ey ,
and disconnect spark plug wire . W ait for all
mo ving par ts to stop before lea ving the operator’ s
position. Allo w the mac hine to cool before
ser vicing, adjusting, fueling, cleaning, or storing .
Clean g rass and debris from the cutting unit,
m ufer , dri v es , g rass catc her , and engine
compar tment to prev ent res .
Allo w the mac hine to cool before storing the
mac hine in any enclosure . Do not store the
mac hine or fuel container , or refuel, where there
is an open ame , spark, or pilot light suc h as on a
w ater heater or other appliance .
Clean Debris From Machine
Service Interval : Before each use or daily
1. Stop engine , w ait for all mo ving par ts to stop , and
remo v e k ey . Eng ag e parking brak e .
2. Clean off any oil, debris , or g rass build-up on the
mac hine and cutting dec k, especially under dec k
belt shields , around the fuel tank, around engine
and exhaust area.
Important: Y ou can w ash the machine with
mild detergent and w ater . Do not pr essur e
w ash the machine. A v oid ex cessi v e use of
w ater , especiall y near the contr ol panel,
ar ound the engine, h y draulic pumps, and
motor s.
Clean Engine and Exhaust
System Area
Service Interval : Before each use or daily
(May be required more
often in dry or dirty
conditions.)
CAUTION
Ex cessi v e de bris ar ound engine cooling air
intak e and exhaust system ar ea can cause engine,
exhaust ar ea, and h y draulic system to o v erheat
which can cr eate a r e hazard.
Clean all de bris fr om engine and exhaust system
ar ea.
1. Stop engine , w ait for all mo ving par ts to stop , and
remo v e k ey . Eng ag e parking brak e .
2. Clean all debris from rotating engine air intak e
screen, around engine shrouding, and exhaust
system area.
3. Wipe up any ex cessi v e g rease or oil around the
engine and exhaust system area.
4. Clean oil coolers (if equipped) of all debris , dir t,
and oil.
Remove Engine Shroud
Access Panels and Clean
Cooling Fins
Service Interval : Every 80 hours
1. Stop engine , w ait for all mo ving par ts to stop , and
remo v e k ey . Eng ag e parking brak e .
2. R emo v e cooling shroud access panels from engine
and clean cooling ns . Also clean dust, dir t, and
oil from exter nal surfaces of engine whic h can
cause improper cooling .
3. Mak e sure cooling shroud access panels are
properly reinstalled. Operating the engine without
cooling shroud access panels will cause engine
damag e due to o v erheating .
Clean Grass Build-Up Under
Deck
Service Interval : Before each use or daily
1. Stop engine , w ait for all mo ving par ts to stop , and
remo v e k ey . Eng ag e parking brak e .
2. Raise dec k to the transpor t (maxim um cutting
height) position. Lift the front of unit and suppor t
mac hine using jac k stands or equi v alent suppor t.
3. Clean out any g rass build-up from underside of
dec k and in disc harg e deector .
