Installation Overview
This section provides an overview of the installation process. Follow the links for a more detailed explanation of
each step.
1. Before starting to install the touchpanels, download and install the latest versions of the following software:
• GUI Designer (TLP Pro models only) — For designing layouts for Extron TouchLink Pro touchpanels and
third party touch interfaces. (TLP Pro models only)
• Global Configurator Plus and Professional (TLP Pro models only) — For setting up and configuring
the control processor and touchpanel.
• ControlScript Deployment Utility (TLP Pro models only) — Provide integrated development
environments for Extron control systems programming.
See Configuration Software on page 25.
• Toolbelt (TLP Pro and TLS models) — Provides device discovery, device information, firmware updates,
and configuration of network settings, system utilities, and user management.
• Room Agent (TLS models only) — For setting up and configuring the Room Scheduling System.
NOTE: The TLS models do not need to be configured or programmed. Other than setting network
addresses (see On-screen Menus on page 16), they are ready to use, as shipped.
2. Before starting to install the TLP Pro or TLS models, obtain the following network information from your
network administrator:
• Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) status (on or off). If DHCP is off, you also require:
• IP address • Subnet mask • Gateway
• User name — This can be either admin or user.
• Password — The factory configured passwords for all accounts on this device have been set to the
device serial number. Passwords can be changed during configuration. Passwords are case sensitive.
NOTE: If the device is reset to default settings, the password is the default password configuration.
The default password is extron (for either admin or user accounts).
• MAC address — Make a note of the touchpanel MAC address, which can be found on the rear panel
label (TLP Pro 525M, 725M, or 1025M) or a label on the base (TLP Pro 525T, 725T, or 1025T).
NOTE: This information is not required for the TLS models.
• SSL security certificates and IEEE 802.1X authentication — Extron touchpanels come with a factory-
installed Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) security certificate. IEEE 802.1X authentication is also supported
once enabled. See Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificates on page 40 or see IEEE 802.1X
Certificates on page 41 for more information.
