User Compensation
Run the ARM COMPENSATION command in the COMPENSATION dialog box
ONLY if the SPAT results are higher than the S
INGLE POINT value printed on
your arm.
Click the ARM COMPENSATION BUTTON and follow the same measuring
steps as the SPAT, see steps above.
Look at the before and after results. Click the YES button to generate and save
a detailed report of the test to a comma-separated values text file (*.csv file), or
the NO button to save the new arm compensation.
Repeat the SPAT with the compensation cone or conical socket in a different
location. This will verify the new arm compensation.
The new arm compensation will remain in your Gage until changed or reset.
Click the RESET button to restore the FARO Factory compensation.
Calibrated Artifact
Measure an artifact of calibrated dimensions (i.e.: ring
gage or gage block).
Ring Gage should be measured as a cylinder.
Gage Block should be measured plane-to-plane, or
point-to-plane (surface point).
N
OTE: The dimension of calibrated artifacts is usually
specified at a temperature of 20°C (68°F). If the current
temperature is different, use the Material Temperature
Compensation function in CAM2, or the following
formula:
Actual Length = Specified Length*(1 + CTE*(Current centigrade temperature -
20°C)), where CTE is the Coefficient of Thermal Expansion of the material in
ppm/°C.
E
XAMPLE: A 150mm ring gage measured at 25°C made of Steel 1020 will be:
150mm * (1 + 11.7e-6/C*(25°C - 20°C)) = 150.00585 mm
If additional support is required, please contact customer support. When
contacting FARO’s Customer Service, please provide the following information:
1 The serial number of the device(s).
2 A copy of the probe compensation log.
