3.2 Software downloading over the serial interface with the help of the X-modem
protocol.
List of the equipment and means necessary for the software downloading into the
device:
• A PC with a “free” serial port RS-232.
• A terminal program (for example, Hyper Terminal by Microsoft).
• A modem cable with the DB-9M (male) connector on the side which is connected
to the device (the pin assignment of the connector to the
FlexGain Plex, V2 device
is presented in the “Connectors’ description” section).
• A shelf, for example, FG-COMPACT for Sub-Rack devices.
• A software file for the
FlexGain Plex, V2 device (PLEX2_Vxx.DAT, where хх is the
version number).
• A power supply.
The time of software downloading is about six minutes.
Sequence of operations.
3.2.1. Connect the shelf to the PC with the help of an RS-232 cable. The MONITOR
connector is on the rear panel of the shelf.
3.2.2. Connect the
FlexGain Plex, V2 device to the shelf.
3.2.3. Switch on the power supply on the shelf.
3.2.4. Wait for the completion of the POST (Power On Self Test). The S and Eth
LEDs blink by turn. The test being completed, the S LED is lit green and the Eth
LED will blink amber if the connection is established (amber means
transmission of TCP/IP packets).
3.2.5. Launch the Hyper Terminal program (hypertrm.exe).
3.2.6. Create a new connection in the Connection Description window. Type a
name in the Name field. Click ОК.
