Version 1.3 32 from 99
1.14 Management.
The following ways of multiplexer management are possible: local management
from the terminal via the RS-232 interface and network management by the TELNET
protocol.
1.14.1 Local management.
The device is connected to the control terminal or PC, which emulates this terminal
via the RS-232 interface. The device is managed with the help of text commands. To start
the terminal program (for example, HYPER TERMINAL), the user should configure the
following parameters:
Transmission rate 9600
No parity
1 stop bit
8 bits
Without flow control
The main menu is displayed after entering the %ХХ command (where ХХ is the slot
number in the shelf). If the slot number is unknown, start the ECHO command. The device
will display «ХХ», where ХХ is the slot number.
The installation procedures are presented in the “Installation and connection”
Section, and the detailed description of commands is given in the “Configuration” section of
the present document.
1.14.2 Network management via the TELNET protocol.
By using the Ethernet interface, the user can connect the device to the local network
with the management PC. The FlexGain Plex, V2 device can be connected to the local
network with the help of a crossover cable. The device is managed with the help of the
TELNET protocol in Windows95 and newer versions. To start the TELNET session, any
program supporting this protocol can be used, for example, Hyper Terminal. The TELNET
session is employed to configure remotely the multiplexer as well as other devices
connected to the MONITOR bus of the same shelf.
If the connection with FlexGain Plex, V2 is successful, the main menu is displayed:
