APPENDIX 1. Daughter boards.
The functionality of the device is mainly determined by the type of daughter boards
installed into it. Unification of dimensions, internal physical and electrical interfaces of units
allows one to adapt the device flexibly to the customer’s needs. The variety of daughter
boards is being constantly enriched, but at the same time their compatibility with the basic
motherboard remains unchanged.
The information exchange between the multiplexer and the equipment connected to
it is performed via the interfaces of the basic motherboard (E1, Ethernet, V.35) as well as
via the interfaces of daughter boards.
Technical parameters of daughter boards and the FlexGain Plex, V2 basic
motherboard are presented in the technical passport of the device.
RINGER unit.
The RINGER unit is used to generate ring signals of the FXS side. It is always
installed on the multiplexer board during manufacturing.
FG-Plex-Е1 board.
The board of the additional E1 port is used to expand the number of E1 ports up to
two. The board contains adapter circuits and protection circuits as well as a digital framer
of the second E1 stream.
FXO unit.
The unit is used to connect the multiplexer to the subscriber ports of the PBX. The
unit has four FXO interfaces, each of which provides emulation of the telephone set by
performing the following functions:
• Detection of the calling signal;
• Management of the subscriber line of the PBX;
• Analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue conversion of the incoming calls.
FXS unit.
The unit is used to connect the subscriber equipment, the telephone set, to the
multiplexer. The unit has four FXS interfaces, each of which provides emulation of the
subscriber port by performing the following functions:
• Generation of ring signals;
• Detection of the state of the subscriber loop;
• Analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue conversion of the incoming calls.
