6.3 Advanced Configuration
6.3.1 Required RF Output Delay (TX Delay)
TheTunerGeniusXL firmwaremanagesalltunerstatetransitions.However,theOperatetoTransmittransition
requiresthattheexciterslightlydelayemittingRFuntilthetransitioniscomplete.Therefore,theTunerGenius
XLrequiresaminimumdelayof20milliseconds(20ms)betweenthetimethekeyingsignalarrivesatthe
tuner
andthearrivaloftheexciterRFsignal.Thistimedelayisnecessaryforthetuner tocompleteallpreparations
toacceptasignalsafely.Thefollowingsectionsprovidedetailedinformationaboutsettingthedelay.
6.3.1.1 FLEX 6000-Series
WhenkeyingthetunerwithFLEX6000SeriestransceiversusingLANkeying,a[TXDelay]valueshouldbesetto
aminimumof20millisecondstoallowthetunertoselectthecorrecttuningsolution.

6.3.1.2 TX Delay for Other Exciters
WhenkeyingthetunerwithotherthanFLEX6000Seriestransceivers,youwillneedtousearadioconfiguration
orsettingtodelayRFgenerationbyatleasttwentymilliseconds(20ms)afterthekeyingsignal(PTT)issentto
thetunerbytheexciter.
Pleaseconsultthemanualforyourtransceiver
orexcitertoenableandconfigure thetransmitdelay.
6.3.1.3 Exciters Without a TX Delay Adjustment
Iftheexciterdoesnotsupportatransmitdelay,thenconfigurethetunerandexciterinthefollowingway:
Connectthekeyingdevice(micPTTswitch,footpedal,etc.)totheappropriateTunerGeniusXLPTT
Input.Theappropriateinputisthesametunerport(AorB)wherethe
exciteroutputisconnected.
