6.3 Compressed air brake system
6.3.1 Compressed air brake system with manual control valve
For every use (driving operation), the brake force must be set according to the
trailer load.
Conditions for operation
- Compressed air brake connection (dual line brake system) on tractor
Selecting the operating mode, adjusting
the trailer load status
Set the loading conditions of the trailer on the
selector lever by turning the handle on the
control valve.
Select from operating mode "Empty",
"Half load" or "Full load" depending on the
trailer load.
"Release" operating mode for moving the
uncoupled trailer is triggered via the trailer
release valve.
The button must be pushed in for this
purpose.
When using the trailer brake valve in
combination with a manually adjustable brake
force regulator without release position, a
trailer release valve is employed.
Fig. 33: Manual brake force adjustment
If, when re-coupling the trailer to the towing vehicle, the release valve (button) has not
been manually pulled out to the stop, the supply pressure from the towing vehicle
pushes the button back out.
