Exhaustemission monitoring
Specific engine systems aredesigned to keep
poisonous components of exhaustemissions
within legal limits.
These systems onlyworkoptimally if they are
maintained exactly according to manufacturer's
specifications. It is forthis reason that all work
on theengine should onlybeperformed by quali‐
fied and authorized Freightliner Sprinter service
center technicians.
Under no circumstances shouldengine settings
be changed. In addition,all specific maintenance
work mustbeperformed at regular intervals and
in compliancewiththe service regulations of the
dealer named in theimprint. Refertothe Mainte‐
nance Bookletfor details.
Notesonshort-distance trips
If thevehicle is predominantlyused forshort-dis‐
tance driving, fuelmay accumulateinthe engine
oil and cause engine damage.
If youmainly driveshortdistances, youshould
driveonafreeway or go foracountrydrive for20
minutes every 480 km (300 miles). This facili‐
tatesthe regeneration of thediesel particulatefil‐
ter.

Exceeding thespecified tireload rating or the
permissible speed rating mayleadtotire
damage and to thetires bursting.

As thedriver, youmustfind out about themaxi‐
mum permissible speed forthe tires (tireand tire
pressure). In particular,observe thelegal require‐
ments fortires forthe countryyou arein.
Youcan permanently limit thespeed of your vehi‐
cle.
Freightliner Sprinter recommends aqualified spe‐
cialistworkshop forprogramming thespeed limit.
Note that youcannotexceed aprogrammed limit
speed when overtaking.
On downhill gradients,the speed limit maybe
exceeded. Applythe brakes if necessary.
Display messages indicate that youare approach‐
ing thelimit speed.

Forbuses, thespeed is limited at thefactory
to 100km/h. When overtaking, bear in mind
that thelimit speed cannot be exceeded.

Fuel
In some countries, onlyfuels withanincreased
sulfur content areavailable.
Mercedes-Benzrecommends installing afuel fil‐
terwithawater separator forcountries withan
increasedwater content in diesel.
