if thecamera lens is covered, dirty or fogged
up. Observe thenotes on cleaning therear
viewcamera(/page192).

thecamera or rear of your vehicle is dam‐
aged. In this case, have thecamera and its
position and setting checkedataqualified
specialistworkshop.
The field of vision and other functions of therear
viewcameramay be restricted duetoadditional
accessories on therear of thevehicle (e.g.
license platebracket or bicycle rack).

Function of ATTENTION ASSIST
ATTENTION ASSISTcan assistyou on long,
monotonousjourneys, e.g. on highwaysand trunk
roads. If ATTENTION ASSISTdetects indicatorsof
fatigue or increased lapsesinconcentration on
thepartofthe driver,itsuggests taking abreak.
ATTENTION ASSISTisonlyanaid. It cannot
alwaysdetect drowsiness or increased lapses in
concentration in good time. The system is nota
substitutefor awell-restedand attentivedriver.
On long journeys,takeregular and timelybreaks
that allowyou to rest properly.
Youcan choose between twosettings:

Standard: normal system sensitivity
R
Sensitive: higher system sensitivity.The
driver is warned earlier and theattention level
detected by thesystem(Attention Level) is
adaptedaccordingly.
If fatigue or increased lapsesinconcentration are
detected, the ATTENTION ASSIST: Take aBreak!
warning appearsinthe Instrument Display. You
can acknowledgethe messageand take abreak if
necessary. If youdonot take abreak and ATTEN‐
TION ASSISTcontinues to detect increased lap‐
ses in concentration, youwill be warned again
afteraminimumof15minutes.
