batteries
Batteries contain pollutants. It is
illegal to dispose of them withthe household
rubbish.

Dispose of batteries in an
environmentallyresponsiblemanner.
Take dischargedbatteries to aqualified
specialistworkshop or to acollection
pointfor used batteries.
If the12Vbatteryhas to be connected, contact a
qualified specialistworkshop.
Observe thesafetynotes and protectivemeas‐
ures when handling batteries.
Risk of explosion
Fire, open flames and smokingare
prohibited when handlingthe battery.
Avoid creating sparks.
Electrolyte or batteryacid is corro‐
sive. Avoid contact withthe skin, eyes
and clothing. Wear suitable protective
clothing, in particular gloves, an apron
and asafetymask. Immediately rinse
electrolyteacidsplashes offwith
cleanwater.Ifnecessary, seek medi‐
cal advice.
Wear eyeprotection.
Keep children at asafedistance.

driveshortdistances regularly:

Starting assistanceand chargingthe starter
battery

Alwaysuse thejump-start connection in the
engine compartmentfor startingassistance
and when chargingthe battery.

When chargingusingabatterycharger with‐
out amaximumcharging voltage, thebattery
or thevehicle electronics maybedamaged.

Onlyuse batterychargerswithamaxi‐
mum chargingvoltageof14.8 V.

WARNING Risk of explosion from hydro‐
gengas igniting
Abatterygenerates hydrogen gasduring the
chargingprocess. If thereisashortcircuit or
sparks starttoform, thereisadanger of the
hydrogen gasigniting.

Makesurethat thepositiveterminal of
theconnected batterydoes notcome
intocontact withvehicle parts.
#
Neverplace metalobjectsortools on a
battery.
#
When connectingand disconnectingthe
battery, youmustobservethe described
order forthe batteryclamps.
#
When giving startingassistance, always
makesurethat youonly connectbattery
terminals withidentical polarity.
#
During startingassistance, youmust
observethe described order forcon‐
necting and disconnecting thejumper
cables.
#
Do notconnect or disconnect thebat‐
tery clampswhile theengine is running.
