Disconnect the processor fan cable, if present, from the fan connector
on the system board. (See “System board” on page 6 for the location of
the fan connector.)
5 Unhook the metal clip from the tab on the processor socket by pushing
downward on the top of the hinged portion of the clip and moving the
top of the hinged portion toward the processor.
6 Unhook the other end of the metal clip.
7 Lift the heatsink straight up and off of the processor.
Caution The processor may be hot if you recently turned off the
computer.
Important The heatsink is attached to the processor by thermal
transfer tape. The heatsink may “cling” to the processor.
