G1026 Heavy-Duty Shaper
Figure 35. Partial feed fence adjustment.
If the face of the workpiece will only be par-
tially removed, observe the following steps:
1. Adjust the infeed fence approximately to the
desired depth of cut. Lock the infeed fence in
place.
2. Use a straightedge to adjust the outfeed
fence to the same plane as the infeed fence.
Lock the outfeed fence in place.
3. Set the right and left wood faces so they bare-
ly clear the cutter. This allows the maximum
support possible for the workpiece when
passing the cutter. Remember to tighten the
wood facing before starting the shaper.
4. Turn the shaper ON.
5. Run a test piece through the shaper. See
Figure 35.
Figure 36. Fence adjustment for multiple cuts.
The sound of this machine when it is run-
ning may be less than that of other devices
such as a dust collector which may be run
-
ning at the same time. Because of this, it
may be difficult to determine if the machine
is ON merely by listening. It is necessary to
make certain that this machine is
OFF and
unplugged before attempting any setup or
adjustments. If this warning is ignored, seri
-
ous personal injury will occur.
NOTICE
Always cut the end grain first when putting an
edge around the perimeter of your workpiece.
See Figure
36.
6. Turn the shaper OFF.
