MAINTENANCE SAFETY
This section includes instructions on some
important maintenance tasks. You can
perform some of these tasks with the tools
provided (if you have basic mechanical skills).
Other tasks that are more difficult and require
special tools are best performed by
professionals. It is recommended that wheel
removal should normally be handled by a Hero
MotoCorp authorised workshop.
However, we cannot warn you of every
conceivable hazard that can arise in
performing maintenance. Only you can decide
whether or not you should perform a given
task.
You will come across some of the most
important safety precautions in the following
pages of this manual.
WARNING
î Failure to follow maintenance instructions
and precautions properly can seriously
injure you.
î Always follow the procedures and
precautions in this owner's manual.
î To reduce the possibility of a fire or
explosion, be careful when working around
petrol or batteries. Use only nonflammable
solvent, not petrol, to clean parts. Keep
cigarettes, sparks and flames away from the
battery and all fuel-related parts.
· Injury from moving parts.
Be sure there is adequate ventilation
whenever you start the engine.
î To prevent the scooter from falling over,
park it on a firm, level surface, on the main
stand.
î Be sure that the rear brake is locked by
parking lever before running the engine, while
the scooter is parked on the main stand. This
will prevent the rear wheel from rotating and
avoid the possibility of someone being injured
from contacting the wheel.
To ensure best quality and reliability, it is
recommended to use genuine Hero MotoCorp
parts for repair and replacement.
Remember that your Authorised Hero
MotoCorp workshop knows your scooter
best and is fully equipped to maintain and
repair it.
· Burns from hot parts.
î Read the instructions before you begin and
make sure you have the tools and skills
required.
Let the engine and exhaust system cool
before touching.
Do not run the engine unless instructed
to do so.
î Make sure the engine is turned “OFF”
before you begin any maintenance or
repair. This will help eliminate several
potential hazards:
· Carbon monoxide poisoning from
engine exhaust.
