Safety Tips
Before this bed is used, please conduct a full risk assessment under the
conditions that the bed is to be used. Give special attention to the area
surrounding the bed and to other equipment used with or near the bed. It is
possible that the other equipment will need to positioned so as to not be in line
with the full movement of the bed.
Medicraft Hill-Rom makes a larger style bed for obese patients. A risk
assessment of the patient must be done to make sure that the bed and its
features are applicable for the patient’s characteristics. For example; if there is
a risk that someone will climb over the top of the siderails, a low-rise bed must
be used.

unattended to prevent accidents. Failure to operate the bed safely may
cause injury.
WARNING:
Make sure that the weight of the patient along with any equipment on
the bed is not more than the safe working load (SWL) identified on the
bed. Failure to operate the bed safely may cause injury.
WARNING:
The control panel lockout system must be used when patients should
not operate the controls. Failure to operate the bed correctly may cause
injury.
WARNING:
Visitors must not adjust the siderails on the bed. Failure to operate the
bed safely may cause injury or equipment damage.
WARNING:
Children must not be permitted to operate the controls or ride on the
