Electrical System
Chapter 3: Theory of Operation
Page 3 - 2 Electrically Operated General Ward Bed
Operation and Maintenance Manual (154588 REV 1)
Backrest and Knee-Break
One control operates both the backrest and the knee-break function at the same
time. The knee-break will reach the end of stroke before the backrest. The
knee-break actuator is fitted with internal limit switches so it will stop at the
end of the stroke. The backrest actuator will continue to travel to the applicable
angle.
Chair Position
The chair position involves all of the actuators. The head end lift actuator
extends, while the foot end lift actuator retracts to tilt the bed (foot end down).
At the same time, the backrest and knee-break actuators extend to raise the
backrest and knee-break. This puts the bed in a chair position for patient dining
or general comfort. The chair position down control reverses the actuator
motion described above to put the bed in the flat position.
