Periodic Maintenance
3-13
Remove the passenger’s seat, rear right
seat board, and mud guard.
Remove the drive belt cover
Inspect the drive belt (1) for cracks, wear,
chipping or damage. Measure the width of
the drive belt (2).
A common complaint for belt wear is a loss
of overall speed.
V-belt width: 31.2 mm
<Limit:> 26 mm
Replace the V-belt
Install the bolts (1) into the secondary fixed
sheave holes.
Tighten the bolts (1) to allow the belt to
drop down into the secondary sheave.
This will give additional play in the belt and
allow you to remove the belt off the
primary sheave.
Install a New V-Belt
The new drive belt is non directional.
Install the belt onto the primary sheave
while the expansion bolts are still installed.
.
The belt should fall down into the
secondary sheave far enough to give you
freeplay to install it. See diagram above.
Remove the expansion bolts.
Install the drive belt cover, mud guard,
right rear seat board, and passenger’s
seat.
Inspecting the Spark Arrester
Allow the vehicle to cool before attempting
to work on the exhaust system. Do not
start the engine with the spark arrester
removed, this would cause a loss of back
pressure which would result in loss of
tuning and performance.
