Thickness
AdjustITlent
-
The
forITls
thickness
adjustITlent
is
located
on
the
right-hand
side
of
the
printing
ITlechanisITl
(see
Figure
6-1,
E).
This
lever
perITlits
ITlinor
adjustITlents
to
accoITlITlodate
forITls
of
different
thicknesses,
e.
g.,
when
the
nUITlber
of
carbons
being
used
is
changed.
The
Type
122
is
capable
of
printing
up
to
six
carbon
copies.
Type
Roll
-
The
type
roll
ITlechanisITl
(see
Figure
6
-1,
F)
pivots
upward
and
to
the
left
to
perITlit
changing
the
ribbon
and
paper.
The
printer
ribbon
is
easily
accessible
when
the
type
roll
is
pivoted
upward.
The
type
roll
weighs
less
than
seven
pounds
and
can
be
changed
by
the
operator
in
approxiITlately
two
ITlinutes.
The
type
roll
is
ITlost
easily
changed
when
it
is
in
a
horizontal
position,
i.
e.,
not
tilted
upward.
Print
ColuITln
TiITling
AdjustITlent
-
The
drawer
containing
the
printer
electronics
(located
at
the
rear
of
the
printer
logic
cabinet)
can
be
rotated
outward
to
provide
access
to
the
controls
for
individually
adjusting
the
print
haITlITlers
for
the
correct
tiITling.
FORMAT
CONTROL
The
horizontal
forITlatting
(i.
e.,
the
spacing
between
printed
characters)
is
controlled
entirely
by
the
prograITlITler.
The
vertical
forITlatting
and
the
advancing
of
the
paper
forITls
Ii.
e.,
the
beginning-
and
end-of-forITl
spacing)
is
controlled
by
inforITlation
included
in
the
print
and
space
instruction
in
conjunction
with
the
pre-punched
vertical
forITlat
control
tape
in
the
printer
(see
Figure
6-2).
The
holes
punched
in
the
tape
are
sensed
by
photo
diodes,
and
the
forITlatting
inforITlation
is
sent
to
the
printer
control
for
interpretation
and
appropriated
control
action.
