Using the Setup Utility
The Setup Utility includes the following hardware and
configuration information:
•
Processor speed
•
System, cache, and video memory
•
Disk drives
•
Serial and parallel ports
•
Power Management features
•
Plug and Play and PCI resource assignments
•
Startup options
•
Model information
•
Date and time
•
Security options
You will not be able to change some Setup Utility
options like system and model information because
they contain information about the system. Other
options let you control how your computer operates. For
example, you can use the Setup Utility to:
•
Create or change a power-on password.
•
Reduce energy consumption with Power
Management features.
•
Enable or disable the system memory test.
Starting the Setup Utility
Sometimes, when you get an error message, your
computer displays a message window with an error
code and a description of the problem. When this
occurs, you can press the
F1
 key to start the Setup
Utility. Otherwise, to access the Setup Utility, you must
either start or restart your computer.
