Configuring your Aptiva computer
for a connection to the Internet
Before you can connect to the Internet, you must
connect your computer to the telephone network. See
the Read me first book for instructions on connecting
cables. See “Connecting your modem to the telephone
network” on page 18 for additional information.
You can connect to the Internet using the IBM Internet
Connection, The Microsoft Network program, or another
service provider. Your Aptiva computer comes with
some software and all of the hardware required to
connect to the Internet.

IBM Internet Connection. To access the IBM Internet
Connection, follow these steps:

The Internet Setup Wizard
Your Aptiva computer comes with a program that guides
you through the steps for connecting to the Internet. You
can use this program, called a wizard, to set up an
Internet connection using The Microsoft Network or any
other service provider.
To start the Internet Setup Wizard, follow these steps:
1. From the Windows 95 desktop, click on the Start
button.
2. Move your mouse pointer to the Programs menu,
then the Accessories menu, and finally the
Internet Tools menu.
