64 Chapter 6: Working with system board components
If you need to remove the riser card
To access some system board components, such as
system memory sockets, you must remove the riser
card. The riser card contains all the adapter card
connectors.
To remove the riser card, follow these steps:
1. If any of your adapter cards have cable
connections to the system board, to another
adapter card, or to one of the drives, disconnect
the cables. Take note of all cable connector
locations so that you can reconnect them without
error.
2. Remove all the adapter cards from the riser card.
For instructions on removing adapter cards, see
“Removing adapter cards” on page 83.
3. Disconnect the power cable from the riser card.
4. Remove the riser card screw and the riser card clip.
Then remove the riser card.
Note:
To reinstall the riser card, reverse the removal
procedure. Reconnect any adapter card cables you
disconnected when you removed the adapter cards
from the riser card.
