3. Turn on both power supplies on the rear of the unit.
The expansion enclosure might take a few seconds to turn on. During this time,
you might see the amber fault LED, green power LED, power supply LEDs, and
blue system locator LED turn on and off intermittently. When the power-on
sequence is completed, only the green power LEDs on the front and rear should
remain lit. If one or more amber fault LEDs remain lit, see Chapter 6, “Solving
problems,” on page 127.
Turning off the expansion enclosure
Attention: Except in an emergency situation, never turn off the power if any fault
LEDs are lit on the expansion enclosure. Correct the fault before you attempt to
turn off the power, using the correct troubleshooting or servicing procedure. This
ensures that the expansion enclosure turns on correctly later. For more information,
see Chapter 6, “Solving problems,” on page 127.
DANGER
Multiple power cords. The product might be equipped with multiple power
cords. To remove all hazardous voltages, disconnect all power cords.

The EXP3500 expansion enclosure is designed to run continuously, 24 hours a day.
Turn off the power only under one or more of the following conditions:
v Instructions in a hardware or software procedure require you to turn off the
power.
v A service technician tells you to turn off the power.
