Note: Before running a procedure, refer to “Removing a file module to perform a
maintenance action” on page 51.
To remove the CD-RW/DVD drive, complete the following procedure.
1. To help you work safely with Storwize V7000 Unified file modules, read the
safety information in “Safety” on page xi, “Safety statements” on page xiii, and
“Installation guidelines” on page 54.
2. Turn off the file module and peripheral devices, then label and disconnect both
power cords and all external cables.
3. Press down on the left and right side latches and pull the server out of the rack
enclosure until both slide rails lock.
4. Remove the cover, as described in “Removing the cover” on page 83.
5. Find the CD-RW/DVD drive, and the blue release tab on the top left hand
corner of the CD-RW/DVD drive. Press the release tab down to release the
drive; then, while pressing the tab, pull the drive toward the front of the server.
6. From the front of the server, carefully pull the drive out of the bay.

Note: The cables to the CD-RW/DVD drive do not need to be disconnected
from the CD-RW/DVD drive in order to remove the drive.
7. Remove the drive retention clip from the drive. The retention bracket is not
secured by any fasteners; carefully unclip the retention bracket from the
CD-RW/DVD drive, noting the point of attachment as indicated in the figure.
8. Carefully attach the retention bracket to the replacement CD-RW/DVD drive,
noting the point of attachment as indicated in the figure.
9. If you are instructed to return the CD-RW/DVD drive, follow all packaging
instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to
you.
