SIGNALTEK Operation Manual 2-3
Autotest Modes
SIGNALTEK will perform an Autotest in one of three link
conditions:
? Remote – The SIGNALTEK display and remote handsets are
connected to a single cabling link. All cable performance tests
can be performed.
? Link – The SIGNALTEK display handset detects an active LAN
link. The tester can perform several IP diagnostic tests to
determine that network devices are operational and that the
current port is properly connected to the LAN.
? No-Link – The SIGNALTEK display handset does not detect
any device at the other end of the cable. This is an open ended
test and a basic wire map and length test can be performed. In
this configuration the wire map can only indicate if the cable
pairs are open (normal) or shorted (abnormal), and measure
the length of each pair with the TDR.
The current link condition is continuously displayed at the top of the
SIGNALTEK display with a green, blue or red icon.
