IDEAL INDUSTRIES, Inc. 2-6
Figure 2-8 VoIP Setup
The VoIP, Web, and IP Video setup screens are all similar. There
is no IEEE 802.3 setting and the test duration is limited to 60
seconds. The default values for these tests are ten seconds and
zero (0) packet loss.
IP Address Setup
SIGNALTEK is an active IP (Internet Protocol) device and can be
configured to operate as part of an Ethernet network.
By default DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is
selected as the method of obtaining an IP address. Most LANs use
a DHCP server since managing IP addresses requires little or no
time from the IT department.
A manual IP address can be configured if desired. One reason to
manually set the IP address is to use the SIGNALTEK handset as
a target to ping. For example if the cabling and server equipment is
installed in a building, but there are no PCs in the work area the
SIGNALTEK display handset can be configured with a known IP
address and placed at the work station side of a network drop.
Then the ping function can be used from the network server to ping
SIGNALTEK and verify that it can communicate through the
network switches and other active equipment.
