Fiber Qualification Abilities
When qualifying fiber optic cabling, SIGNALTEK-FO operates in a
manner very similar to the standard SIGNALTEK. The tester will
run cable performance tests to qualify a link as being able to
support Gigabit Ethernet at an acceptable bit error rate and will
perform a link establishment test to verify link speed and measure
the attenuation of the link. The length of the cable cannot be
measured on fiber; this function is only available on copper cabling.
The physical interface for the fiber port is the LC duplex connector.
This is a standard small form-factor connector that allows two fiber
cables to be connected in the space of a single ST or SC
connector.

SIGNALTEK-FO kits ship with LC-to-SC multimode jumpers that
allow testing of 50? m and 62.5? m fiber. Testing of ST or FC and
single mode cabling can be accomplished by purchasing the
appropriate jumpers and couplers.
