5 Pressure monitoring
5.1 Functional test
Check the pressure monitoring system before each use of the device!
Procedure:
- Connect the cutter drive to the hose package if required!
- Connect the control unit if required!
- Plug the drum´s power plug into the power supply (LED on chassis must light up). An
automatic status test then follows; if pressure monitoring is OK, the cutter drive lights
will flash twice, 10 seconds after the power supply unit has been connected.
If the functional test is unsuccessful, it must be assumed that the monitoring unit is defective.
Serious damage can occur to the robot if the monitoring unit is defective, as leaks will not be
registered. In this case, contact the service shop.
5.2 Pressure monitoring operation
With the robot and PSU (hose drum power plug) connected and the pressure monitoring unit
in working order, the cutter´s interior compartment is permanently monitored for changes in
pressure, i.e. a deviation from the nitrogen nominal positive pressure value. The nominal
pressure is 0.5 bar (see 5.4 Nitrogen charging). An error message is not triggered if the
pressure is between 0.2 bar and 0.8 bar. However, if the pressure rises above or falls below
these values, this is indicated by the cutter drive lights flashing:
Lights flash 4 x: Pressure less than 0.2 bar Leaking
Lights flash 6 x: Pressure greater than 0.8 bar Leaking
In each case, the flash sequence repeats after 30 seconds. Work must be stopped
immediately! The cutter drive must be charged with nitrogen (see 5.4 Nitrogen charging). If
lights flash again at any time, then the system is leaking somewhere. The cutter drive assembly
must be replaced or repaired in a service shop!
Continuing to work with a leaking robot can cause serious damage that will require expensive
repairs.
Also contact the service shop immediately if the lights start flashing in an irregular sequence.
Continuing with work here may also damage the system.
