Local spare
A local spare drive is dedicated to a logical drive. It can be used for replacing any
of the member drives, even across subsystem enclosures, but it cannot be used for
a different logical drive, even if that logical drive resides in the same enclosure.
Global spare
A global spare drive is not dedicated to a specific logical drive. It can be used to
replace any disk drive.
Enclosure spare
An enclosure spare drive is dedicated to the enclosure it resides. It can be used for
a member of any logical drives, as long as it resides in the same enclosure.
