3.5.2.1 Flash BIOS
The BIOS flash utility is compatible with DOS, Microsoft* Windows* NT 4.0/2000/XP, and Linux
operating environments.
An afuXXX AMI Firmware Update utility (such as afudos, AFUWIN, afulnx, or AFUEFI) is
required for a BIOS update.
The format and usage of the afuXXX utility is as follows:
afuXXX /i<ROM filename> [/n] [/p[b][n][c]] [/r<registry_path>] [/s]
[/k] [/q] [/h]
/n - don't check ROM ID
/pbnc -
b - Program Boot Block
n - Program NVRAM (not supported)
c - Destroy System CMOS
/r - registry path to store result of operation (only for
Windows version)
/k - Program non-critical block only (not supported)
/s - Leave signature in BIOS
/q - Silent execution
/h - Print help
3.5.2.2 Updating the BIOS from DOS
• Make sure that the flash bootable disk contains both the ROM image and the afudos
update utility.
• Boot to DOS.
• Run the afudos utility as follows:
AFUDOS /i<ROM filename> [/n][/p[b][n][c]]
3.5.2.3 Updating the BIOS from Microsoft* Windows* NT 4.0/2000/XP
• Make sure that the flash disk contains the ROM image, AMIFLDRV.SYS and
AFUWIN.EXE.
• Boot to Microsoft Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP.
• Run the AFUWIN utility as follows:
AFUWIN /i<ROM filename> [/n][/p[b][n][c]]
3.5.2.4 Updating the BIOS from Linux
• Make sure that the flash disk contains the ROM image and the AFULNX utility.
