Belt Splicing System v.2.0
Symptom & Possible Causes Action to Take
Splice offset at edges (horizontal misalignment)
Belt ends not properly aligned
Belt ends different widths
FABRICATION TIP
Slight dimension differences, within 1/16" (1.5 mm) on each edge
(or 1/8" (3 mm) total belt width), are acceptable when splicing belts.
If belt edge offset is greater than 1/16" (1.5 mm), the splice is faulty. Cut the faulty splice
from the belt and repeat the splicing procedures with careful attention to alignment.
If belt edge offset is 1/16" (1.5 mm) or less, trim off snags and use trim tools to smooth belt
edges before the splice fully cools.
If belt end widths measure more than 1/8" (3 mm) different from each other, contact Intralox
Technical Support.
Splice offset at top surfaces (vertical misalignment)
Cut the faulty splice from the belt and repeat the splicing procedures with careful attention to the following items.
Belt top surfaces not properly aligned Adjust thumb knobs to increase or decrease Cut Guide pressure on belt ends until belt top
surfaces are flush.
If one belt end is lower than the other across the full belt width, shim the lower Deck with
Painters’ tape. See Make Belt Tabs on page 11-1.
If the belt has troughing grooves, shim the Grooved Decks with Painters’ tape. See
TROUGHING GROOVES SPECIFICS on page 13-1.
For S8126 belt, see S8126 BELT SPECIFICS on page 14-1.
Equipment damage Cut Guides are bent. Contact Intralox.
This is often caused by over-tightening thumb knobs causing the Cut Guides to bow or warp.
