Splice Tears in Production
Cut the faulty splice from the belt and repeat the splicing procedures with careful attention to the following items.
Splice was not inspected before running See TRIM & INSPECT THE BELT on page 7-1.
Weld bead/flash snagging on conveyor
frame
1. Check trim tools for damage or wear.
2. Skive both top and bottom weld beads.
3. Be sure to smooth snags or offsets from belt edges.
Too much belt removed during trimming Skive raised weld bead from the flat belt surfaces; do not create a channel at the splice.
Wrong Cut Guide used Repeat belt end preparation using the blue S8026 Cut Guide for 26 mm pitch belt or red S8050
Cut Guide for 50 mm pitch belt.
Temperature or time set incorrectly Adjust setpoint to recommended temperature.
Melt belt ends for recommended time.
See Splice the Belt Ends on page 6-2.
Belt not engaging sprockets
Cut the faulty splice from the belt and repeat the splicing procedures with careful attention to the following items.
Drive bar pitch faulty Inspect drive bar pitch at splice with Pitch Gauge. If pitch does not meet inspection, repeat
splicing procedure with special attention to the following:
Clean debris from belt ends.
Clear debris from grooves in Deck and Cut Guide.
Engage drive bars in Cut Guide or Grooved Deck before securing.
Use the blue S8026 Cut Guide for 26 mm pitch belt or red S8050 Cut Guide for 50 mm pitch
belt.
