Exploring the side panels
The connectors located on the side panels are used to connect the E1 Tester
to the circuit for testing.
Left side panel
Figure 2 shows the left side panel.
Use the RJ-48 jacks (labeled RX1/TX1 and RX2/Ext Clk) to connect to E1
circuits. See Table 5 on page 4 for cables that are available for the SmartClass
E1 Tester.
The RS232 connector is only used on the SmartClass E1/Datacomm configu-
ration. It is used to connect to network elements when using the optional
VT-100 emulation feature.
Right side panel
The right side panel has a universal connector, shown in Figure 3, that is used
to connect to Datacom circuits
The universal connector supports several interface standards. Use the
connector and adaptor cables (see Table 5 on page 4) to connect to the appro-
priate test interface. For pin assignments for the supported interface stan-
dards, see Appendix A on page 111.
