Appendix D – WIEEX2
Appendix D reviews general information, installation guidelines, and connection diagrams for Keyscan RS485
Wiegand extenders (WIEEX2). Wiegand extenders are used on doors and readers that exceed the 500 feet
maximum distance from the ACU. When installing the WIEEX2 extenders please check the version and observe
the corresponding wiring diagram. Each Wiegand extender – WIEEX2 – includes 1 transmitter and 1 receiver.
The following additional components may be required to complete the installation:
12VDC 1 Amp power supply with battery backup
mounting interface enclosure
Important
Do not mix WIEEX2 (firmware 6.00 or higher) receivers and transmitters with previous generation or
WIEEX (firmware 5.03 or lower) receivers and transmitters.
