How to Disconnect Charging
Connector in Emergency
If the charging connector does not dis‐
c
onnect due to battery discharge and
failure of the electric wires, open the
hood and slightly pull the emergency
cable. The charging connector will then
disconnect.
The charging cable lock may not work
properly when foreign materials such
as dust enter the cable or the cable is
encrusted with ice.
In that case, the charging cable may
not be disconnected or locked, or the
vehicle may not be charged.
If this happens, open the hood and pull
the
emergency cable lightly 2 to 3
times and then try to disconnect the
charging cable or start recharging.
How to Store and Keep the AC
charging Cable (if equipped)
Store the charging cable safely in the
storage c
ompartment.
CAUTION
Do not disassemble or modify the
char
ging cable. Such acts could re‐
sult fire, electric shock and injury.
Always keep the charging connec‐
tor
and charging plug in clean and
dry condition. Be sure to keep the
charging cable in a condition where
there is no water or moisture.
If there is any foreign substance or
dust
inside the charging connector
and charging plug, blow them off
with the air coming out of the air
conditioner.
When the charging connector or
char
ging plug is damaged, corro‐
ded or rusted, or if it feels loose
when the charging connector and
charging plug are connected, do
not charge the vehicle. Kia recom‐
mends to contact an authorized
Kia dealer/service partner.
Please note the following when
using the char
ging cable.
-
Do not pull the cable by exces‐
siv
e force.
-
Do not twist or bend it.
