SP2 Performance Features
[ Audio Outs
The left and right audio jacks are used to connect to your audio system. See “Connecting To
YourAudioSystem”onpage2‐2forconnectiondetails.
\ Headphone Jack
Plugyourheadphoneinhere.You’llneeda“1/4‐inchto1/8‐inch(or“phone‐to‐mini”)adapter
plugwhenusingheadphonesthathaveaminiplug.See“ConnectingtoYourAudioSystem”on
page2‐3formoreinformation.
] Power Jack
Plugthecordfromtheincludedpoweradapterintothisjack.Youmustusetheadaptercomes
withyourSP2.However,ifitshouldbecomelostorforgotten,referseepage2‐2forinformation
aboutpossiblesubstitutes.
^ Power Switch
Pressthewhite“I”toturnontheSP2orthe“O”toturnitoff.Ifitwillbeoffforalongperiodof
time, unplug the power adapter from the wall. The flash memory in the SP2 works like hard
drive of a computer and need no power or battery to retain information. So there is no
advantagetoleavingthepoweron.
Programs
Programs consist of presets that include various instrumental sounds and 60 types of drum
patterns.Withsuchavarietyofexcellentsounds,theSP2canbemanyinstrumentsyouwantit
to be. Be it a guitar, a bass or even a string ensemble. You can use those sounds for either
performanceorMIDIcomposition.Programsarealsothesoundsourcetobuildupyoursetups.
Youcanmodifythemtoyourtaste,ofcourse.
To select a program, press [program/setup] button. Pressing the button will toggle the small
LED in the button between green and red. If the LED turns red, it means that the SP2 is in
Programmode.TheLEDturnsgreenwhenSP2isinSetupmode.
InProgrammode,usetheSoundSelectbuttonintheSoundSelect/DataEntryregiontoselect
thedesiredinstrumentalcategory(Piano,E.Piano,etc.)andselectaprogrambypressingoneof
theeightbuttonsbelowthecategorybuttonsassuggestedin<Figure3‐4>.
X SelectingCategories/Youcanselectthedesiredinstrumentalcategoryinthisregion.
YSelectingPrograms/Youcanselectthedesiredprogramwithinthecurrentcategoryinthis
region.
