X MIDI Ports
Use the MIDI Out and MIDI Thru ports to connect to an external sound module such as
KurzweilK2600RorPC2R.UsetheMIDIInportwhenyouareusingtheSP2asasoundmodule
forasequencerapplicationoranotherMIDIcontroller.See“ConnectingMIDI”onpage2‐4for
moreinformation.
Y USB Port
UsetheUSBporttoconnecttoa computer.When the SP2isconnectedtoacomputervia USB
cable, it can transmit and receive MIDI data without using MIDI In and Out ports. See
ConnectingtoaComputerviaUSB”onpage2‐7formoreinformation.
TheUSBportoftheSP2carriesonlyMIDIdata,notaudiodata.
(UniversalSerialBus)isaserialbusstandardtointerfacedevices.
Z Pedal Jacks
ContinuousCont rol(CC)PedalJack
Youcanplugacontrol pedalin here. A control pedal isvery useful when controllingvolume,
expression,vibrato,andmoreMIDIeffectswithyourfoot.YoucanuseaKurzw eilCC‐1pedal
ofcourse,orjustuseathird‐partycontrolpedalforgenericsynthesizers.Withsomepedals,you
maynotbeabletogettheresultsthatyouwantaccordingtoyourcontrolpedalsetting.Ifyou
need more detailed information about control pedal or having problems making it work
properly,see“ControlPedalProblems”onpage9‐4.
Switch(SW)PedalJack
Usethisjacktopluginaswitchpedal.Youcanplugthesinglepianopedalthatcamewithyour
SP2 here. By default, it will perform a sustain ( or damper ) function. Of course, you can use
KurzweilKP‐1,KP‐2orKP‐3too.
Kurzweilkeyboardsdeterminethepolarityofthepedalwhenitisturnedon.
Ifyourswitchpedalworksbackwards,youcanreversethepolaritybypushingit
whileturningonyourinstrument.
