Compensating for defective vision
The Leica HM500 microscope is equipped with an eyepiece for
eyeglass wearers.
Make absolutely sure that the eyepiece is in the
0-diopter position (80) when you are wearing eye-
glasses or contact lenses!

lternatively, if you have defective vision in the spherical range
(nearsightedness or farsightedness) and are not wearing your
eyeglasses or contact lenses, you can adjust the eyepiece from
+7 diopters to –7 diopters to compensate.
Pre-setting the angle
➩Press the button (110) and put the microscope into one of the
three basic angle settings. The microscope clicks into posi-
tion.
Adjusting the headset
Before it is used for the first time, the headset needs to be
individually adjusted.

Hold the microscope with both hands on the headset and
place on the head as shown.
➩Check the position of the microscope.
