IfyouareinstructedtoreturntheRAIDadapterbatteryorflashpowermodule,followallpackaging
instructions,anduseanypackagingmaterialsforshippingthataresuppliedtoyou.
ReplacingaRAIDadapterbatteryorflashpowermodule
WhenyouinstallanyRAIDadapterthatcomeswithbatteriesorflashpowermodules,itissometimes
necessarytoinstallthebatteriesorflashpowermodulesinanotherlocationintheservertopreventthe
batteriesorflashpowermodulesfromoverheating.Thebatteriesorflashpowermodulesmustbeinstalled
ontopoftheairbaffle.
Important:
Thebatterymustrechargeforatleast6hoursundernormaloperatingconditions.Toprotectyourdata,
theServeRAIDcontrollerfirmwarechangesthewritepolicytowrite-throughuntilthebatteryunitis
sufficientlycharged.Whenthebatteryunitischarged,theServeRAIDcontrollerfirmwarechangesthe
writepolicytowrite-back.
Forbrevity,inthisdocumentationtheIntelligentBatteryBackupUnit(iBBU)isoftenreferredtoasthe
battery.
