Removingthesystemboard
Usethisinformationtoremovethesystemboard.
Attention:
1.Whenyoureplacethesystemboard,youmusteitherupdatetheserverwiththelatestfirmwareor
restorethepre-existingfirmwarethatthecustomerprovidesonadisketteorCDimage.Makesurethat
youhavethelatestfirmwareoracopyofthepre-existingfirmwarebeforeyouproceed.
2.Beforeremovinganycomponentsordisconnectinganycables,keepnoteoftheirrespectivelocations
andhowtheyareconnectedtothesystemboard.
3.Whenyoureplacethesystemboard,makesurethatyouremovetheIntegratedManagementModule
AdvancedUpgradeandplaceitonthenewsystemboard.ForinformationabouttheAdvanced
Upgrade,see“Usingtheremotepresenceandblue-screencapturefeatures”onpage111
.
4.Beforeyoureplacethesystemboard,makesurethatyoubackupanyfeaturesondemand(FoD)keys
thatwereenabled.ReactivateanyFeaturesonDemandfeatures.Instructionsforautomatingthe
activationoffeaturesandinstallingactivationkeysisintheLenovoFeaturesonDemandUser'sGuide.

Toremovethesystemboard,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Readthesafetyinformationthatbeginson“Safety”onpagev,“Handlingstatic-sensitivedevices”
onpage36,and“Installationguidelines”onpage34.
Step2.Turnofftheserverandanyattacheddevices.
Step3.Turnofftheperipheraldevicesanddisconnectallpowercords.
Attention:Whenyoureplacethesystemboard,youmusteitherupdatetheserverwiththe
latestfirmwareorrestorethepre-existingfirmwarethatthecustomerprovidesonadisketteor
CDimage.Makesurethatyouhavethelatestfirmwareoracopyofthepre-existingfirmware
beforeyouproceed.
Step4.Pullthepowersuppliesoutoftherearoftheserver,justenoughtodisengagethemfromtheserver.
