InstallingaRAIDadapterbatteryorflashpowermodule
WhenyouinstallanyRAIDadapterthatcomeswithbatteriesorflashpowermodules,itissometimes
necessarytoinstallthebatteriesorflashpowermodulesinanotherlocationintheservertopreventthe
batteriesorflashpowermodulesfromoverheating.Thebatteriesorflashpowermodulesmustbeinstalled
ontopoftheairbaffle.
Important:
•Thebatterymustrechargeforatleast6hoursundernormaloperatingconditions.Toprotectyourdata,
theServeRAIDcontrollerfirmwarechangesthewritepolicytowrite-throughuntilthebatteryunitis
sufficientlycharged.Whenthebatteryunitischarged,theServeRAIDcontrollerfirmwarechangesthe
writepolicytowrite-back.
•Forbrevity,inthisdocumentationtheIntelligentBatteryBackupUnit(iBBU)isoftenreferredtoasthe
battery.

Step2.Turnofftheserverandperipheraldevicesanddisconnectallpowercordsandexternaldevices

Step3.Removethecover(see“Removingthecover”onpage37).
Step4.Pushthetabtoopenthecoverontopoftheairbaffle.
