latestversionofrmware.Then,installthermwaretoyourserver.
3.Updatethemachinetype,modelnumber,andserialnumberofthesystemboard.Eitheryouwill
bepromptedtodothiswhileupgradingtheBIOS,oryoucanlocatethelesforupdatingthe
VPDwithintheDOSBIOSpackage.Forsomeservers,theVPDutilityisavailablefordownload
at:http://www.lenovo.com/drivers
Note:IfyouwanttousetheFirmwareUpdaterprogram,ensurethatitcontainsthelatestversionsof

Completingthepartsreplacement

Tocompletethepartsreplacement,youmustproperlyroutethecablesinsidetheserver,reinstalltheserver
cover,reconnectalltheexternalcablesand,forsomedevices,updatethermwareandruntheSetupUtility
programtodofurthersetup.

Attention:Forpropercoolingandairow,reinstalltheservercoverbeforeturningontheserver.Operating
theserverforextendedperiodsoftime(morethan30minutes)withtheservercoverremovedmight
damageservercomponents.
Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.

Toreinstalltheservercoverandreconnectcablestoyourserver,dothefollowing:
1.Makesurethatallcomponentshavebeenreassembledcorrectlyandthatnotoolsorloosescrewsare
leftinsideyourserver.
2.Makesurethatallinternalcablesareroutedcorrectlyandsecuredbyanycableclipsortiesinthe
server.Keepcablesclearofthehingesandsidesoftheserverchassistoavoidinterferencewith
reinstallingtheservercover.
3.Ifyouhaveremovedthefrontbezel,reinstallit.See“Removingandreinstallingthefrontbezel”on
